The two-browser rule

AceIt includes an Interview Browser, but your video meeting must be in a separate normal browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari).

  • Video meeting (Meet, Zoom, Teams, etc.) — run it in your normal browser.
  • AceIt Interview Browser — keep it open beside your meeting for live help and reference material.

Do not host or join the video meeting inside AceIt Interview Browser.

Step 1

Install the app

Download from the official page and install for your operating system.

Windows

  1. Download the installer from the official download page.
  2. Run the installer and finish the setup wizard.
  3. Launch AceIt Interview from the Start Menu or desktop shortcut.

macOS

  1. Download the .dmg from the download page.
  2. Drag AceIt Interview into Applications.
  3. Open from Applications (macOS may ask you to confirm the first launch).

Linux

  1. Install using your provided package (AppImage or .deb).
  2. Launch the app from your application menu.

First launch checklist (permissions)

AceIt can use your microphone and (optionally) system audio/screen capture depending on your workflow (dictation, meeting capture).

Microphone

Allow when prompted.

Screen / system audio recording

Required if you use capture features:

  • macOS: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording → enable AceIt Interview.
  • Windows: Settings → Privacy & security → Microphone / Screen recording.
  • Linux: grant access in the desktop portal prompt (PipeWire / xdg-desktop-portal).

If you skip permissions, you can still sign in and use most UI features, but capture and dictation may be limited.

Step 3

Sign in or create your account

  1. 1Open the app and choose Sign in or Register.
  2. 2Complete Google sign-in or the email/password flow.
  3. 3After sign-in, the app loads your Account and Plan state.
Step 4

Activate your account

Most new users see an Activation screen with two steps. When both show Done / Active, you can continue.

Verify email

  • Open the verification email and confirm your address.
  • Return to the desktop app and click Check status.
Step 2

Subscribe (Stripe Checkout)

  • Choose Monthly or Annual (Starter/Pro depending on what’s offered).
  • Click Subscribe with Stripe or Open Stripe Checkout.
  • Your browser opens Stripe Checkout; after payment you’re redirected back (deep link).
  • If the app doesn’t update immediately, click Check status (Stripe can take a moment).

Open the Interview Browser

  1. 1Once your plan allows it (trial or paid), go to the main workspace.
  2. 2Click Open Interview Browser (or the similar call-to-action).
  3. 3A dedicated browser window opens for interview sessions.
Before you start

Pre-interview checklist

Do this a few minutes before your interview so you’re not scrambling when the call starts.

Step A — Video meeting
  1. Open Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari.
  2. Join your meeting (Meet, Zoom, Teams, etc.) and confirm camera and mic work.
Step B — AceIt beside the meeting
  1. Open AceIt Interview.
  2. Open the Interview Browser.
  3. In the Interview Browser, open and sign in to the AI tools you plan to use: ChatGPT, Grok, Gemini, Claude, or any other tool you use.
  4. Once signed in, click Interview mode in the top toolbar of the AceIt Interview Browser.

Using tabs and sessions

  • Use the interview browser like a normal browser for interview-related pages and tools.
  • Keep your call in your usual platform (Meet, Zoom, Teams) and use AceIt alongside it (two-browser rule).

You're ready: meeting in your normal browser, AceIt open to support you.

Interface

Desktop shell

The main app window — manage your account and the app itself.

Profile / Account

  • See your plan (Starter/Pro), subscription status, and expiry.
  • Open the billing portal (Stripe) for payment methods and invoices.

Activation

  • Step 1: verify email.
  • Step 2: subscribe via Stripe Checkout (if required).
  • Check status refreshes your account after verification or payment.

Security

  • Two-factor authentication (Google Authenticator / TOTP) when prompted.
  • Trusted devices (if shown).

Devices

  • Microphone/speaker selections and device setup prompts when applicable.

Updates

  • If an update banner appears, use Download update to install the latest build.
Interview Browser

Toolbar — button by button

Your side-by-side workspace during interviews. Buttons depend on your plan and current site.

Address bar

URL bar

Type a website (e.g. chatgpt.com) and press Enter. If you type without https://, AceIt automatically adds it.

Search / Open

Magnifying glass button — loads the URL in the bar.

Action buttons (right of URL bar)

Subscription

Card icon — opens your Profile modal directly to subscription/billing.

Dark mode / Dark on

Toggles AceIt’s shell theme (light/dark).

Disappear / Appear

Main stealth toggle — toggles Disappearing Mode.

macOS: enables capture exclusion (setContentProtection), blocking OS-level screen capture. Windows/Linux: avoids capture-exclusion (some builds show blank frames); Disappear/Appear mainly affects UI state and workflow. If your plan excludes stealth, the button is disabled: “Stealth mode is not available on your plan.”

Dictation

Microphone control — dictate questions or answers. Depending on plan/settings, dictation may auto-send or require manual send.

Interview mode

Only on ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Grok after you sign in.

When ON: UI switches to a focused interview workflow and the button changes to Exit mode.

Screenshot

Captures a screenshot and sends it into your current chat when supported. Starter may show: “Screenshot capture is included on Pro.”

Interview Assistant

Opens AceIt’s Interview Assistant experience (availability depends on plan).

Gear icon — opens the Profile modal (Account section).

Sign out

Logout icon — signs you out of AceIt Interview on this device.

Don't see a button you expect?

  • You’re in the Interview Browser window (not the Desktop shell).
  • You’re on a supported chat domain (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok) for Interview mode.
Visibility

Stealth, show/hide, and tray

Stealth-friendly controls to manage visibility quickly from anywhere.

Global shortcuts

Show / focus AceItCtrl/Cmd + Shift + Alt + O
Hide AceItCtrl/Cmd + Shift + Alt + H
Quit AceItCtrl/Cmd + Shift + Alt + A

Tray / menu bar

Windows/Linux: system tray. macOS: menu bar. Clicking the tray icon also shows the main window.

  • Show AceIt InterviewBrings the app to the foreground.
  • Hide AceIt InterviewHides the window while keeping AceIt running.
  • QuitExits the application.

Use the tray to show/hide, quit, or confirm AceIt is running when the window is hidden.

Profile modal

In the Desktop shell, open Profile for the most common account actions.

Subscription / Billing

  • View current plan and status.
  • Manage subscription → Stripe customer portal.
  • View invoices when available.

Security

  • Set up or manage two-factor authentication when enabled.

Legal

  • Open Terms and Privacy links.

Stripe

Billing portal and invoices

  1. 1Open Profile → Billing / Subscription.
  2. 2Click Manage subscription or Open billing portal.
  3. 3In the Stripe customer portal: update payment method, cancel or change plan, view/download invoices.

If you paid but the app still looks locked

This is usually timing:

  • Return to the app and click Check status.
  • If needed, wait ~10–30 seconds and try again.
  • Open the billing portal and confirm the subscription is active.
  • If you were charged and it still doesn’t unlock, contact support from the email shown in the app.
Day to day

Common workflows

Quick day-of-interview setup

  • Launch AceIt and confirm you’re signed in.
  • Use the global shortcut to keep AceIt quickly accessible.
  • Open Interview Browser and pre-load pages you’ll need (job description, notes, etc.).

Switching between call and AceIt

  • Keep your call platform in the foreground when needed.
  • Use Show/Hide shortcuts to quickly toggle AceIt.
  • If you scroll away from live updates, some auto-scroll behaviors pause until you return near the bottom.

Troubleshooting

The app doesn’t come to the front (Windows)
Try Show/focus: Ctrl + Shift + Alt + O. Use the tray icon to Show the app. AceIt uses single-instance mode — opening again should focus the existing window.
Payment return didn’t verify
On the activation screen, click Check status. If it still doesn’t update, open the billing portal and confirm the subscription is active. If charged and still locked, contact support.
Microphone or capture features not working
Re-check OS permissions (see Permissions). Restart the app after granting permissions — some OSes require it.
Updates
If the app shows an update banner, click Download update and install the latest build.
Can I join Zoom or Meet inside AceIt?
No. Video meetings must run in Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari. AceIt Interview Browser is for AI tools beside your call.
When does Interview mode appear?
On supported chat sites (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok) after you sign in. Turn it on before your interview starts.
I don’t see a toolbar button I expect
Confirm you’re in the Interview Browser (not Desktop shell) and on a supported domain for Interview mode.

AceIt is intended for legitimate productivity and assistance. You’re responsible for complying with employer/interviewer rules and applicable laws.
